Alexander Hodge

Bennettsville, SC A celebration of life service will be held for Alexander Hodge on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Shiloh United Methodist Church officiated by Barbara Webster. Alexander Hodge, 73, the son of Herbert Hodge and Emma Mumford Hodge passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center. Alexander was born in Marlboro County on November 24, 1948. Alexander was a true outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting, farming, and just hanging out at his barn surrounded by his tractors. Most of all Alexander loved his family. Alexander loved all of his family however he would quickly let you know that his heart belonged to his granddaughters and theirs belonged to him. They learned many stories related to “getting through life” on their adventures of fishing and hunting trips with their Papa. Alexander had a long career as a lineman until his retirement from Mas Tec. Earlier in his career, Alexander worked as an equipment operator with Becker Sand and Gravel. Alexander is survived by his wife of 43 years Dianne Hodge who was at his bedside at the time of his death. Additionally, Alexander is survived by his children, Sandra Hodge Humphries (Al) of Lugoff, SC, Herbert Hodge (Jennifer) of Bennettsville and Gary Sweatt of Bennettsville. Three granddaughters, Whitney Humphries (Terence), of Columbia, Morgan Mankins (Jorden) of Lugoff, and Hannah Hodge of Bennettsville. Alexander is survived by sisters, Clara Sweatt, Alma Quick, Betty Lou Locklear (Hilbert), Linda Grace Ainsworth (Dennis), and brother, Rufus Hodge. In addition to his parents Alexander was predeceased by his brothers, Jimmy Hodge, John Elbert Hodge, and Billy Hodge. Alexander assured that everyone around him knew that he was at ease and very prepared for his final day here on this earth while being confident he was ready to meet his heavenly father. Alexander passed away peacefully and without fear as he was certain of his final destiny beyond this earth. Alexander stated that his biggest concern was for the loved ones he was leaving behind. Alexander publicly professed his faith in Christ and it was his desire that all of his loved ones accept Jesus Christ as Savior and confess their sins so that we can all look forward to rejoicing together in the presence of the Lord.
