Anthony (Tony) Howland

Anthony “Tony” Howland, of Hartsville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at his home. Tony was born in Indiana and raised in Ohio. In 2002, he moved to Hartsville, South Carolina, where he made his home and raised his three children. Tony was a man who believed in living life on his own terms. He taught his children to be strong, to believe in themselves, and to never “settle” for anything. During his younger years, Tony was a wild, untamed spirit—a man who followed his dreams and desires and lived life with passion. He enjoyed riding and building Harleys, tattooing, and most importantly, supporting and providing for his family. As the years passed, Tony found a new passion in playing bass guitar and making music. One of his greatest joys and proudest accomplishments was sharing the stage with his sons and making music together as a family. Those moments brought him a tremendous sense of pride and happiness. Family was always at the heart of Tony’s life. He cherished family dinners with his daughter and sons, their spouses, and his grandchildren. He loved preparing meals and seeing everyone bring their own freshly made contribution to the table. Holidays and celebrations were especially meaningful to Tony because they gave him the opportunity to have his family together, share laughter, enjoy good food, and create lasting memories. Perhaps Tony’s most cherished role in life was being “Papa” to his three beloved granddaughters. He loved them dearly and was incredibly proud of each one of them. He could never get enough time being Papa, and the love he shared with his granddaughters was a special part of his life that will forever remain in their hearts. Tony is survived by his loving wife, Kelly Howland; his daughter, Leah Davis (Josh); his son, Chance Howland (Chesney); and his three beloved granddaughters, Emerry Howland, Paisley Howland, and Layla Davis. He was preceded in death by his son, Dillon Howland. Tony will be remembered for his strong spirit, independent nature, love of music, devotion to his family, and especially for the love and pride he had for his children and grandchildren. His memory will live on through the family he loved so deeply, the music he shared with them, and the many memories they created together.
