Betty Keith

Society Hill, South Carolina Betty Lee Braddock Keith, 94, of Society Hill died on Saturday, December 11, 2021. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 3 PM at the LDS Cemetery in Society Hill. Arrangements are being directed by Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home of Darlington. Betty grew up in small communities near Hartsville. She and her family eventually moved to Society Hill where they had a small farm. She grew up on the farm and learned the value of hard work. She not only worked on the farm but also took care of her family and daily household chores, she would even babysit her younger sisters and brother on occasion. Betty received her High School Diploma from St. David’s Academy in Society Hill on March 25, 1945. She taught at Harris Creek Elementary School in Chesterfield County. Betty married Luther Oldern Keith on March 8, 1947 and later was married (sealed) in the Salt Lake Temple, Utah on September 26, 1949. She was a woman of strong faith and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Over the years she served as a Primary President over the children at the Society Hill Branch as well as Relief Society President over the women. She also supported her husband for over 12 years as he was Branch President (Pastor) over the Society Hill Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Latter in life, she was the store manager over the Griffin 88 Store in Bennettsville for several years. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and was very proud of them. Surviving are her children, Linda Diane Moore and husband, Danny of Florence, Lana Keith of Society Hill, Alice K. Williams and husband, Evans of Blenheim, and Gary Michael Keith and wife, Teresa; her grandchildren, Mandy Moore Parker and husband, David of Conway, Kristen Moore Blum and husband, Karl of Lexington, Heather Moore Hill and husband, Rob of Florence, Blake Williams and wife, Krystin of Blenheim, Logan Williams and wife, Valerie of Coward, Lauren K. Snipes and husband, Matt of Florence, Callie Michelle Keith of Florence, and Dawn Hunsucker and husband, Jamie of Society Hill; 8 great grandchildren; one step grandson, Cody Trenton Chapman of Cash; her sister, Virginia Margaret Yow and her late husband, Sheldon of Macon, Ga., and her brother, Robert E. Lee Braddock, Jr. and his late wife, Brenda of Hartsville. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Oldern Keith; her son, Larry Oldern Keith; her sister, Frankie B. Usher (Ben), and three half-brothers, Willie Weatherford, James Weatherford, John David Weatherford, and one-half sister, Lucille Weatherford; and one step grandson, Justin Byrd.
