Fotine Milligan

Fotine Palassis Milligan November 4, 1938 – July 22, 2026 Fotine Palassis Milligan, of Florence, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on November 4, 1938, in Charleston, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas John Palassis, Sr. and Willie Lou Carrigg Palassis. Fotine was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, George Anthony Palassis; her sister, Nickie Palassis Wescoat; her mother-in-law, Leatha Sanders Milligan; her sister-in-law, Sandra Milligan McEachern; and her brothers-in-law, William Huger Buck, William D. Rentz , Gordon Thomas Wescoat and Wyman A. McEachern. She is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 70 years, Edward Perez Milligan III. Married on November 11, 1956, in Charleston, South Carolina, Fotine and Ed built a life centered on family and love. They raised four children and lived in Lynchburg, Virginia; Tucson, Arizona; and for the past 53 years, Florence, South Carolina. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Pamela Milligan Furr; Edward Perez Milligan IV (Barbara Turner); David Patrick Milligan (Michelle Fields); and Deborah Milligan Beasley (Rick). She was a proud grandmother to Justin Andrew Furr (Diana), James Ryan Furr (Bri), Haley Milligan Catterton (Jack), Anna Katherine Milligan, Jack Henry Beasley, Emily Claire Milligan, and Edward (Quentin) Perez Milligan V. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Bailey Andrea Furr, Jameson Paul Furr, Julien Ace Furr, and Madison Elizabeth Catterton. She is also survived by her siblings, Estacia “Stacey” Palassis Buck, Nicholas John Palassis, Jr., Teddy Palassis (Rene’), and Deborah Palassis Trego (Alan); and her sister-in-law, Marguerite Patricia “Patsy” Rentz, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. After graduating from Murray Vocational School in Charleston, Fotine began a career in payroll and accounting. While living in Lynchburg, Virginia, she worked at Lynchburg General Hospital. After moving to Florence in 1973, she continued her career with Union Carbide/ESAB, where she remained until her retirement. A devoted member of All Saints’ Anglican Church, Fotine served faithfully on the Altar Guild and was a member of the Daughters of the King. Fotine was active in her communities as a member of the Florence Shag Club, a Girl Scout leader, and a supporter of her children’s swim teams. She enjoyed reading, attending author events at the Florence County Library, attending productions at the Florence Little Theatre, working puzzles, and traveling. She so cherished her regular “girl's lunches” which were a special time of friendship, laughter, and fellowship. She always supported her grandchildren and rarely missed their activities, sporting events, and school programs. Fotine had a servant's heart and expressed her love through quiet acts of kindness, generosity and genuine concern for others. The Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at All Saints’ Anglican Church, 1425 Cherokee Road, Florence, South Carolina 29501, with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to All Saints’ Anglican Church.
