James Dixon

It is with deep sadness that Mrs. Melette Dixon announces the passing of her beloved husband, James Dixon, who went home to be with the Lord on September 29, 2025. James was the son of the late Evelyn and E.J. Dixon of Middendorf, South Carolina. James was a man of unwavering faith. A strong and faithful Christian, he believed wholeheartedly in the saving grace of Jesus Christ and loved to share the gospel with others. He lived with the assurance of eternal life in Heaven, and his life was a shining example of what it means to walk with Christ. James was selfless and giving, always putting the needs of his family and others before his own. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, and his presence brought comfort and strength to all who knew him. He had a generous spirit and was always ready to help anyone in need. Above all else, James was a family man. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a wonderful grandfather to 3 grandsons, who brought him endless joy. For 31 years, James worked at Sonoco Products Company in Hartsville, SC, where he was respected as a dependable and hardworking man. His colleagues remember him not only for his strong work ethic but also for the kindness and integrity he carried with him every day. He retired from Sonoco in 2022. James is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Barbara Melette Dixon; his sons Zachary (Kelly) Dixon and Jeremy Dixon; his sisters Claudia (Stephen) Nettles and Gloria (Chris) Bladel; his brothers Emmett Dixon and William (Carlene) Dixon; his nieces Cassie (Jarett) Evans and Abby (Garret) Winburn; his mother in-law Barbara Gainey Hall and his grandchildren Jackson Wallace, Mason Dixon, and Grayson Dixon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and E.J. Dixon. James will be remembered as a man of strong faith and family values. He lived his life with integrity, humility, and kindness, always putting others before himself. His laughter, wisdom, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Though his time here has ended, James leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and strength that will continue to guide his family for generations. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 5-7pm at Hartsville Church of God. A private family burial will be held at later date. Memorials may be made to the home of Barbara Dixon.
