Shirley Butler Sehnke, 68, of Darlington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2026. She will be remembered for a joyful spirit, a generous heart, and the simple pleasures that made life beautiful. A devoted bingo enthusiast, Shirley rarely missed a chance to gather with friends, share a laugh, and hope for that lucky number. Bingo nights weren’t just a game—they were a time of friendship, excitement, and community. At home, Shirley took great pride in decorating the yard, transforming it with seasonal displays that brought smiles to neighbors and passersby alike. Whether it was twinkling lights, festive holiday scenes, or cheerful summer touches, her creativity and care made the home a welcoming and joyful place. One of Shirley’s greatest delights was feeding hummingbirds. With patience and wonder, she would watch them flutter and hover, finding peace in their delicate beauty. The sight of hummingbirds dancing around the feeders will forever remind loved ones of her gentle spirit and appreciation for life’s small miracles. Above all, Shirley cherished family and friends. She leaves behind her husband, Ron; her step-son, Brian; her grandchildren, Brittany, Jade and Lauren; her aunts, Sandy (Tommy) Humphries, and Bobbie Jean Blackmon; her sisters, Mona, Rose and Donna Jean; her brother, James; her great niece whom she called her baby, Aliza; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, who will carry forward the love, kindness, and traditions she shared so freely. Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Michael. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 3 PM in the Thomas C. Kistler Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Kendall Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 PM on Friday, February 27, 2026 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Shirley’s memory by playing a game of bingo, decorating your home with something that makes you smile, or putting out a feeder for the hummingbirds. Shirley’s life was a reminder to celebrate often, decorate boldly, and pause long enough to watch the hummingbirds. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
