Thomas William "Tommy" Howle

Tommy Howle, 79, died Saturday, September 17, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 4 pm at Central Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 pm on Monday, September 19, 2022 at Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home. Tommy was born in Darlington County. He was the son of the late Lonnie Gandy "L.G." and Hazel Pye Howle. He grew up in Dovesville. He received his formal education at St. John's High School. He went to work for Southern Bell AT&T at a young age and retired after many years of service. Following retirement he went to work for USA Cylinder Exchange and later retired again. In retirement Tommy discovered a new life. He found time to hunt, fish, grow a garden, and relax a bit, something he had never really done. He spent more time in church and enjoyed it. He spent many of his summer days delivering tomatoes he had grown to his friends. He flew model airplanes and was a member of the Darlington County Balsa Buster Academy of Model Aeronautics Club. He took the time needed to raise a couple of baby deer who needed a hand up. He helped Madison, as best he could, with her nursing school commitments. He straightened up around the house and he kept his yard and garden in order. All in all, Tommy had a good life. In the end, he had the Lord, his family, and the few simple things it took to make him happy. In Dovesville, South Carolina, that's called a job well done. He was a good and faithful servant who has now received his reward. Tommy was survived by his wife, Sheila Garris Howle of the home in Mont Clare, South Carolina. His daughter Helen Mathews who lives in Alabama, his daughter Madison Howle who lives uptown in Darlington, and his son Tinker (Thomas William Howle, Jr.) who has gone to be with the Lord, along with his brother Larry Howle.. His brother, Lon G. (Caroline) Howle lives in Dovesville. He has also left to carry on the Howle legacy his grandchildren, Trey Howle of Darlington, Erin Zirlott and husband, Zack, Lucas Matthews, and Lynsey Matthews who lives in Alabama, and his great grandson, Layton Howle. The family wishes to thank Regency Southern Care Hospice as well as Victoria Lee, Crystal Marrero, and Nijia Brown for the compassionate care given to not only Tommy, but our entire family. .
