William Patrick Haynie

William Patrick Haynie, age 56, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2026. Born in Florence, SC on March 20, 1970, William was the beloved son of William S and Kay Arnold Haynie. A 1988 graduate of St. John's High School, William was well known in the community as the owner and operator of Haynie's Lawn Care for more than 25 years. William was one of a kind and a smart businessman. His motto was, "Life is short, so live it!" And that he did! Along the way, he collected a multitude of friends who helped him with work, and his racing endeavors. William did well in his business, allowing him to pursue his many passions, one of which was racing. He put the pedal to the metal from go-carts to motorcycles, but car racing was his favorite. He could be seen almost every weekend at one of the local race tracks, tearing around the curves in his #07 blue race car. He and his best friend and crew chief, Freddie Weatherford, along with Dave Singleton won many races together enjoying adventures in the infield, but especially doing burnouts in the Winner’s Circle. Haynie, as he was called by many, was the funniest person you could ever meet. There aren't many people that don't have a funny story to tell at the mere mention of his name. At the end of the day, he was a complex, caring, smart, all around great person, He will truly be missed. Always a believer in Jesus Christ, his faith became more important to him recently. He attended Mechanicsville Baptist Church, where he found peace. He went to church the last day of his life, and his open Bible was on the table a few feet from where he was when the Lord called him home. The Bible says in the book of Matthew that Jesus told his disciples, "what you do for the least of these my brothers, you have done unto me." William had an open heart for helping people, regardless of the need. He had an innate ability to make everyone feel worthy, and never looked down on anybody. To a life well lived, we thank Thee, oh Lord. He is survived by his sister, Jennifer Johnson (Ben) of Myrtle Beach, a niece, Savannah James (Jonathan), two nephews, Josh Johnson (Margaret) and Nick Johnson. He is also survived by two aunts, Nancy Stewart and Gail Arnold of Darlington, along with many other extended family members, cousins, and dear friends. A memorial service will be held at 3 PM Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 PM on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home.
