Angela Clyburn

May 23, 2018

Marion, South Carolina Angela Claire Clyburn, went to her family reunion in Heaven on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. She was born February 15, 1941 in Nichols, beloved only child of the late William Boyd and Lillian Mae Johnson Clyburn. Educated in South Carolina Public Schools, and Technical Colleges, she was employed in Health Care. Her career was an interesting one working in multiple facets of nursing. She was program integrity officer, CHAMPUS Field Representative and Case Manager in Utilization Review for BSBS of SC. She worked for Northrop Aircraft Corp. in Saudi Arabia in their medical clinic serving employees and third country nationals. Upon return to the States she was a Medical Reviewer for Medicare. She was loyal to her profession until ill health forced her into early retirement from Mercy Medical Center in MT Shasta, CA. Having an extraordinary talent for research she then devoted her time to genealogy and compiled several books on various branches of her family, as well as those of others who asked for her assistance. She was always ready to lend a hand to any in need. Her love for others was as great as her love for nature. She saw beauty in all things, especially flowers, music and animals. This love of all of God’s creations follows the instructions of the scriptures she embraced at the age of ten when she became a member of the Methodist church. As a military wife she traveled to Europe, Mexico, the Middle East, Kenya, Egypt, living for some time in Germany and Saudi Arabia, and across the United States. As a young wife and mother she volunteered as a Den Mother with the Cub Scouts, and taught in adult literacy programs. She loved the outdoors. Camping and fishing were where she took solace in the simple beauty of earth. She tended her beautiful flowers, fed the birds, squirrels, turtles, and rabbits that came into her yard. She took time to watch the world around her holding all manner of life as sacred. She loved cates and they filled her life with warm furry moments she treasured. Four of them who passed and were cremated were laid to rest with her, Huf’N Puf, Biz, Miss Kitty, and Tina. She was a member of the Blue Savannah Swamp Fox Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the General Nathan Bedford Forrest Chapter number 2597 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, The Laura Wesson # 5 Chapter of the North Carolina Order of the Confederate Rose, the Society of the Black Rose, Order of the Indian Wars, South Carolina Historical Society, and the South Carolina Genealogical Society. Her awesome journey caused her to touch the lives of many who came into contact with her. She is survived by four sons, Alan, of Philadelphia, PA; Thomas, of New Orleans, LA; Matthew, Gastonia, NC; and Ray Rawls of Santa Cruz, CA; thirteen grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Special friends Jonnie Abner of Titusville, FL and Ronald Perdue of High Point, NC. She was preceded in death by three sons, Infant James, Stephen and Joseph. She lived her life well and viewed the end of her journey with calm assurance that her faith was well founded. At her request, there were no public services, and interment was private. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were handled by Kistler Hardee Funeral Home of Darlington, SC.
