Effingham, South Carolina Larry Richard Spence, 76, of Effingham died on Monday, December 20, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 12:00 Noon at Black Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 11:45 AM on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home, and other times at the home. Larry was born in Ohio on September 21, 1945. He was the son of the late Stanley and Christine Spence. Larry attended First Pentecostal Baptist Church and enjoyed singing and listening to Gospel Music. He also enjoyed crafts, reading and spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife, Mary Gandy Spence of Effingham; his son, Danny Merritt, Sr.; his daughter, Cynthia Merritt; his grandchildren, Danny, Jr. and Christian; his brother, George Spence of Akron, Ohio; his sisters, Anna Spence and Sherry Spence; and great niece, Virginia Lloyd.
