Darlington, South Carolina Mary Jewel Kelly James Evans of Darlington died on Thursday, June 24, 2021 in Charleston with her loving family by her side. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at 3 PM in the Chapel of Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 PM on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at the funeral home and other times at her home. Mary Jewel was born in Darlington, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Roy and Retha Kelly. Mary Jewel along with her sisters, Zulene and Betty where known as the “Golden Girls” enjoyed fishing and taking road trips to Santee. She also loved cooking, sharing recipes and spending time with her family. Mary Jewel lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every moment with the ones she loved. She also enjoyed attending High Hill Baptist Church. Surviving are her children, Reverend Randy James and wife, Dianne, Kelly James and wife, Kim and Joey James and wife, Tammy all of Darlington; her step-son, Stevie Evans and wife, Lisa; her grandchildren, Marshall James and wife, Kellie, Michael James and wife, Amanda, Andrew James (Ashley), Brent Walters and wife, Ashley, Madison James, Devin Markham, Rachel (Madison) Harte, Parker Gainey, Michelle Bruce and husband, DJ, and Kyle Gainey; 10 great grandchildren; her brothers, Blease Kelley and wife, Rosa, Reverend Burch Kelly and wife, Emily, and Calvin Kelly and wife, Mary; her sisters, Zulene Gandy, and Reverend Betty Gainey; her sidekick and niece, Deborah Kelly Butler; her lifelong friend, Myrtle Hancock; her neighbors, Loulah, and John; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, Bruce Kelley, Roy Kelley, Jr. and Redmon J. Kelly.
