Reverend Jim Hardee

January 23, 2022

Jimmie Lawrence Hardee, 82, died January 23, 2022 Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 4 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church conducted by Reverend Will Altman. A private burial service will be held at Grove Hill Cemetery directed by Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home. Jim was born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on July 4, 1939. He was the son of the late Elbert Lucion and Wilma Merritt Hardee. He was a minister serving the United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He and his wife, Billie, were the Founders and co-directors of the Darlington Youth Home that later became the Billie Hardee Home for Boys. Surviving is his wife, Billie Templin Hardee; two sons, Jimmie L. Hardee, Jr and wife Natalie and J Todd Hardee and wife Jenny; two daughters, Samantha “Sam” Baumbach and husband John, and Nicole H “Niki” Chapman and husband Wayne; eight grandchildren, Merritt H. Wallace and husband Sean, Sarah C. Hardee, J. Templin Hardee and wife Jennifer, Philip S. “Sandy” Hardee and wife Talon, Lillie T. Baumbach, Joshua “Josh” Baumbach, Hannah N. Chapman and W. Gates Chapman II; three great-grandchildren, Jayce T. Hardee, Kistler J. Hardee, and Eleanor J. "Nora" Wallace; three sisters, Pat Britt and husband John, D. Gail Hardee, Sunnee H. Hollman and husband Benny. The family will receive friends at The Grand Old Post Office, 201 Pearl Street, Darlington, SC. (directly across the street from the church) immediately following the funeral. This will be a fish fry in his memory. It was his wish for all to take part in this event. “The Lord did a lot with two fish” he would often say. This was a lesson Jim took very seriously and has done many fish fries over the years to accomplish many things, none more important than that of learning to love your neighbor. This final fish fry was his wish, and his instruction to his family. We hope you can come. Memorials may be made to The Epworth Children’s Home, 2900 Millwood Avenue, Columbia, SC 29205
