Rita June James, 58, passed away on April 21,2022. She was born on August 5, 1963 in Darlington to Bobby and Shelby James. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 26th at Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home from 6-8 pm. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. She graduated from Mayo High School, class of 1981. She worked many years at Honda in Timmonsville and as a dispatcher for 911 and the South Carolina Highway Patrol. She enjoyed good food, reading her Bible, doing puzzles, the color purple and relaxing in her pool/ her happy place. She loved to talk about Jesus and her smile and laughter lit up a room. She was the life of the party & never met a stranger. She loved her “furr-babies” Camo and Barkley. She was “May-May” to her 3 grandbabies and loved them to the moon and back. She was “Wee Wee” to her siblings and her daddy’s shadow. Surviving are her daughter Lori Butler (Tim); Father, Bobby H. James; brother, Timothy D. Frye; sisters, “Older Sister” Rhonda James Calcutt (Andy); “Baby Sister” Stacey James Howle (Danny); 3 grandchildren, Linsey Butler, Alison Butler, and Arabella Butler; nieces, Sarah Howle, Kathryn Howle; nephew, Gabriel Howle. Rita was preceded in death by her mother Shelby Frye James “Doodle”; brothers Steven C. James and Bobby H. James II “shel”. A special thanks to the wonderful staff at McLeod CCU, “In her words, y’all are awesome”; Vickie Thornton, Caroline, Victoria, Mary Miles Faulkenberry and Scott Bennet. You exemplify the nursing profession and a true servant’s heart.
