Stephen Christopher McCrea

November 22, 1986 - March 15, 2022

Stephen Christopher McCrea, 35, completed this earthly life Tuesday, March 15, 2022. A graveside service will be held Sunday, March 20, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Sparrow Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery near Timmonsville, South Carolina., Stephen was an Honor graduate of Wilson High School and attended College of Charleston. During IB Art classes in high school, he developed a love of abstract art, a passion which he continued to pursue all of his life. Stephen was co-owner of Railroad Junction an Art Gallery in the Florence Downtown area, when it began its latest revival in 2011. He participated in FMU’s International Arts Festival, several competitions, and exhibits with the Florence Arts Alliance, as well as The Florence Museum and various events in downtown Charleston. Stephen also loved planning and coordinating exhibits, including PopCult-True Love and PopCult-Metamorphosis. He later was the owner of Prime Livery an online store specializing in traditional Southern men’s wear. Stephen was a brilliant, enigmatic thinker with an eclectic style in both his personality and his physical appearance. He also had a passion for writing and music. Surviving are his parents Melinda & Duke Leftridge; grandparents Billie & Sam Stallings; his father Steve (Sherri) McCrea; his brother Jonathan Pierce McCrea; his step-brothers Danny Leftridge (Sierra Coatney) & Robby Leftridge (Kym Ussery); a niece Kenzie Leftridge—with whom he shared the love of visual artistic expression; nephews, Bryson, Blake & Gavin Leftridge; aunts, Heather (Kevin) Hammond and Mandy Stallings; uncles, Tom Hunter and Josh (Leah) Stallings; cousins, Jordan T. Hunter, Grayson S. Hammond and Lawson G. Hammond; his God-Mother, Candyce D. McCrea; as well as a large and loving extended family of Great-Aunts, Great-Uncles, and many cousins. Stephen was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Rayford H. & Mary W. McCrea; his maternal grandfather, Tommy B. Hunter; his God-Father, Chris Frazier; and 4 great-grandmothers, Mildred O. Pierce, Ruth M. Stallings, Alice Vonceil P. McCrea, and Catherine D. Hunter. Memorials may be made to the Darlington County Humane Society 1705 Adoption Way Darlington, SC 29532.
