Barbara Welch Stanley

Barbara Marie Welch Stanley (71) of Darlington SC died peacefully June 03, 2020 at her home while surrounded by her family. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held Saturday June 06, 2020 at 11:00 am directed by Kistler Hardee Funeral Home. This celebration will be held at her home located at 1137 Indian Branch Road, Darlington to allow her sick husband to attend. Interment will be held at a later date in a private ceremony at Grove Hill Cemetery. All who knew her, knew she always had a smile and she absolutely adored working with her 4K kids. If one of her grandchildren were on a ballfield, or performing in any way, she was there if humanly possible. Even when God’s plan changed for her life, she remained a fighter. She spent two years under hospice care but she refused to give up as she bravely fought this terrible disease! Barbara was born in Darlington SC a daughter of the late Richard Welch and Elizabeth Shorter Welch. She worked as a hairdresser earlier in her life, then later at Fiber Industries, and she retired from teaching 4K at Central Baptist Pre-School. She was known to many as Mrs. Barbara or GaGa by her grandkids and all their friends. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and her first granddaughter, Randi Michelle Gainey; brother-in-law Roy Mattox and brother-in-law Russell Dozier. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 52 years, James Christopher “Chris” Stanley, Sr of the home; her daughter, Samantha (Terry) Gainey, her son, James Christopher “Jamie” Stanley, Jr; grandchildren, Dr. Jordan Gainey of Iowa City, IA, Joshua Gainey of Beaufort, SC, Dani Gainey, of Darlington, SC, Kinsley Stanley and Savannah Stanley of Florence SC. Her four sisters Brenda Mattox of Hartsville, Patricia Haynie (Wayne) of Darlington, Theresa Dozier of Florence, and Carol Welch Odom of Hartsville, and so many nieces, nephews and honorary grandchildren. This ceremony is open to anyone who would like to attend. It will be held on the patio area of the home and the dress is casual. Family and friends are invited to stop by and visit at 1137 Indian Branch Road, Darlington SC at other times.
