Francis Kregg Spivey Francis Kregg Spivey, 78, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, education, and a deep love for his family and the outdoors. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 3 PM at Main Street Methodist Church in McColl, SC. Interment will follow on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 11 AM at Ocean Woods Cemetery in Myrtle Beach, SC. The family will receive friends at the church an hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Born and raised in McColl, South Carolina, Kregg remained proud of his hometown roots throughout his life. He later settled in Darlington, South Carolina, where he spent many years before retiring to the South Carolina coast, enjoying the peaceful beauty of the beach and the water he loved so much. Education was both Kregg's calling and his passion. He earned his bachelor's degree from University of North Carolina at Pembroke and later received his master's degree from Clemson University. He dedicated his career to teaching English at Florence-Darlington Technical College, where he impacted the lives of countless students through his knowledge, patience, and encouragement. Outside the classroom, Kregg found joy in spending time on the water. Whether fishing or sailing, he appreciated the quiet moments that nature provided. More than anything, he cherished time spent with his family, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. Kregg is survived by his son, Dylan Spivey and his wife, Stephanie; his brother, Michael Spivey and his wife, Madeline; his sister, Lana Johnson and her husband, David; his grandchildren, Samantha, Sage, Joshua, Brittany, Haley, and Jax; and his great-grandchildren, Adalyn, Wyatt, Atlas, and Raylen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Margaret Spivey, his beloved son, Joshua Spivey; his sister, Margaret Jo; and his brother, Sonny Griffin. A funeral service will be held at McColl Methodist Church on Tuesday. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow on Wednesday at Ocean Woods Cemetery in Myrtle Beach. Both times will be announced soon. Kregg will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, educator, and friend. His quiet strength, generous heart, and lifelong commitment to helping others learn will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of kindness, wisdom, and love will never be forgotten.
