Udelle Carroll Rogers, 97, of Darlington died on Saturday, May 7, 2022. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery where she will be interred beside her late husband, Mr. Ralph Rogers. . The family will receive friends from 11 AM until Noon Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the funeral home. Miss Udelle was the epitome of a southern lady. Her church, Central Baptist, was a very important part of her life. She taught the Beginners Class for many years as well as being a faithful member of The Grace Sunday School Class. She loved to entertain and hosted many celebrations for her family and friends. She was quite the gardener and her yard was an example of her love for horticulture. She shared this love of plants, flowers, and gardening with her friends at the Kalmia Garden Club, where she was very active over the years and served as President several times. She was a stay at home mom until her children were old enough to take care of themselves. She then joined her husband at Central Drug Store and also worked part time at Quality Flower Shop until she eventually retired from both. Mrs. Rogers exemplified a life well lived. For almost a century she was a prominent member of the Darlington Community. Although her garden club days have long since passed, Central Drug Store and Quality Flower Shop closed many years ago, and entertaining her friends at her garden parties had come to an end, her real life’s work will carry on through future generations. Her children, Paula Bowen and husband, Bill, along and her son, Dr. Ted Rogers and Kim Littlefield, will carry the torch of her love for the Lord and her community, and in true, Ralph and Udelle Rogers form, they will pass it along to their grandson, William Bowen III and wife Lauren. Also, she had many friends but none more close than her sister in law, Mary Louise Rogers Sansbury and her dear friend, Selma Miller. They are all three now in the Church Triumphant.
