William Morris Rhodes Jr.

William Morris Rhodes, Jr., 72, of Florence, SC husband of Rene'e Cannon Rhodes left this life October 15, 2024. He was reunited with his son, Jason Hoffmeyer Rhodes in Heaven. Mr. Rhodes died after a long extended illness. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home, Oak Grove Plantation the home he loved so dearly. Mr. Rhodes was born January 6, 1952 in Florence, SC. The son of William Morris Rhodes, Sr. and Agnes Hoffmeyer Rhodes. The youngest grandson of George and Ethel Hoffmeyer. Morris learned to work hard and strive for excellence. His upbringing at Pisgah Methodist Church played on important role in the adult he grew to be. A man of quiet dignity he knew what to say, and what not to say. Morris grew up on the large sprawling farm with his parents and grandparents. In his younger years he worked the farm of cotton and tobacco. He was an avid hunter and excellent marksman. Morris met and fell in love with Rene'e Cannon, the love of his life and have never left each others side. Their marriage of 52 years, the sacred memories will live forever. Morris a 1971 graduate of West Florence High School. A graduate of General Motors Corporation, Charlotte, NC in 1972. The body shop foreman of Quality Motors, Buick, Pontiac, General Manager of Cannon Honda for 21 years. Morris was predeceased by his first born son, Jason Hoffmeyer Rhodes who passed away from an auto accident in 1999. Morris is survived by his beloved wife, Rene'e Cannon Rhodes; loving daughter, Scarlett O'Neal Rhodes Collins, loving son, William Morris Rhodes, III (Marshall); a son-in-law, Gregory Collins, a daughter-in-law, Tracy Rhodes. His precious grandchildren, William Morris Rhodes, IV (Little Jason), Violet Elizabeth Clardy, Lillian Blair Rhodes, Caleb Rhodes Clardy, and Mila Noel Rhodes. They loved their Grandpa so much. In addition, a sister, Rachel Greer, and mother-in-law, Faye Cannon Keels. The graveside service will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Pisgah Methodist Church Cemetery on the Family plot, directed by Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home of Darlington.
